Raphael Martins

Here you'll see some of my work as a web interface developer.

Spix.info, may - 2008

What is it?

Spix.info is a tool to organize your content. At first, it looks like just another feed aggregator, but it goes beyond that, allowing users not only to read, but to share, rank, comment, save and discover content relevant to them.

What I've done?

The application required a rich user experience, with plenty of drag and drop interactions, ajax requests to minimize the load times and the time required between those interactions.

I worked as a front-end developer, creating javascript solutions based on a relatively simple markup to optimize client-side performance and also to minimize the server load. Those solutions include: on-demand content loading and the use of javascript event bubbling, to list some.

Connection Map, december - 2007

What is it?

Type in a band and / or a last.fm user to connect people through music. You can buy songs of the artists shown on the map from amazon.

What I've done?

Integrated the flash and the rails application through XML to create the dynamic connections. Optimized the code to minimize memory usage and implemented a fluid flash layout.

Shopping UOL, august - 2007

What is it?

Shopping UOL is the price comparison tool from UOL - Universo Online, the biggest ISP and most visited portal from latin america.

What I've done?

From august to november, I was the responsible for implementing the new version of the product. Due the large amount of traffic, all of the solutions implemented should use the minimum of bandwidth and resources as possible.

Toda Oferta, August - 2007

What is it?

Toda Oferta is the ebay-like bidding site from UOL.

What I've done?

The interface needed to be very simple and intuitive to use. That was achieved mostly by using Ajax interactions + JSON in the interactions.

I've also developed exclusive functionality for the TinyMCE javascript HTML editor to fit specific project goals.

TSA, december - 2006

What is it?

This is the website for TSA - Tubos Soldados Atlântico, a welding company.

What I've done?

The website needs were: to be fully accessible to the blind, every page should have a printer-friendly version and multilingual support. Those objectives were fully accomplished by using web standards with zero code redundancy and full cross-browser support.
